What is APM by Penzel?
APM is a massage based on the principles of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). It was developed by Willy Penzel for human beings, and then adapted for horses by Dieter Mahlstedt.
The ailments of your horse are reflected in its energy flow. By triggering the meridian system and the relevant acupuncture points, APM by Penzel allows your horse’s energy flow to balance out and to be stimulated. The self-healing powers are activated.
For this purpose, the meridians will be stimulated by hand, small rod, brush, moxa (heat) or different light colours.
Contrary to acupuncture, no needles are used.

The treatment
Each treatment starts with a diagnosis of the horse. The body will be scanned with hands at a distance of 2 cm from the skin. This is to feel which areas are hot or cold, and more specifically, in which areas there is a lack or excess of energy. This gives me a map of problem areas and an idea what they are related to. Thus, I can treat them specifically.
The APM offers a range of methods to readjust the energy flow and support its innate self-healing ability:
In the spine-therapy we strengthen the low energy points along the spine. Afterwards the horse can, by trotting on a long rein, reset its vertebras itself.

In case of laminitis, the excess energy caused by the inflammation can be diverted in order to help the immune system to initiate a recovery.

In case of joint problems, the other joints are treated over cross until the energy flow is re-established.
The organs can be reached by stimulating the meridians or energising the organ-related points.

Suppression of scar-related interferences are a must at APM as they can cause major energy blockages.

Deeper layers of the energy body are addressed for example by using the 5 elements method (metal, water, wood, fire and earth) or by treating the so-called special vessels.
After the first treatment, I can show you how you can support your horse in everyday life by grooming it energetically in order to maintain the flow of energy.
The first treatment will take 1-2 hours.
The treatment costs 120€/h.
Please note: for some treatments you should give your horse 3 days of rest so that the therapeutic measures can be integrated into its energy system.
APM is recognized by the German national equine federation (Deutsche Reiterliche Vereinigung (FN)).

This method is a complement to conventional medicine; it is not a substitute for a consultation of a veterinarian.
